Networking

Over the years networking domain has been one of NeST's focus areas. NeST has significant experience in developing a wide range of solutions in the networking domain for some of the leading names in the industry. These solutions range from building complete products based on rough concept sketches from our customers to porting of existing legacy solutions into new platforms and technologies. We have developed, integrated and tested some of the latest protocols and standards in the communications technology. Some of our focus areas in the networking domain include

  • Wireless LAN, WLAN, WiFi
  • ZigBee
  • Bluetooth
  • Automotive networking
  • Cable
  • Optical networks
  • Power Line Communications networks
  • Ethernet, TCP/IP

This unique experience of working various technologies and platforms enable us to provide best in class services for

  • designing and developing and maintaining a wide range of networking hardware and software solutions,
  • developing solutions in which different technologies are inter-working,
  • integrating networking technologies to a wide range of other applications

Protocols and Drivers

WLAN

  • NeST is an active member of WiFi alliance and has been working in projects and products this domain for many years. The rich experience of having executed projects that cover a large portion of WiFi functional spectrum is one our great asset.
  • Some of the platforms NeST has worked include (ITRON like OS), Linux (OpenRG) &
    Windows CE.
  • NeST’s domain level & standard level expertise include
  • Complete IEEE 802.11a/b/g station MAC specification implementation.
  • Layer-2 QoS implementation IEEE 802.11e implementaion for priority based EDCA (Enhanced Distributed Channel Access)
  • Implementation of security standards such as WEP, WPA, WPA2, IEEE 802.11i
  • Implementation of Roaming Support specification IEEE 802.11F
  • Implementation of the IEEE Draft 802.11r, standard for Fast BSS Transitions, which enable efficient VoWiFi
  • On the WiFi Station side, NeST has implemented drivers for various chips and interfaces (USB, PCI, mini PCI, IEEE 1394)
  • In the Access Point (AP), NeSTs has executed projects which include,
  • Virtual AP implementation with multiple SSID & multiple BSSID using Atheros chipsets
  • Implementation of ‘Per virtual AP QoS’
  • Implementation of Wireless network management system – WOSS
  • Implementation of UPnP support
  • Also, NeST has implemented various solutions to Monitor and configure Wireless APs & routers
ZigBee

  • NeST has in depth knowledge of IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee layers (NWK, APS, ZDO, ZCL) specifications and its implementation from leading chip vendors.
  • In ZigBee profiles, NeST has Implemented ZigBee Home Automation profile and proprietary/custom profiles for factory automation.
  • One of our significant achievements in this domain has been the complete design, development and installation of ZigBee products based on ZigBee solutions provided one of the leading chip vendors. This product for factory automation has been installed and working successfully in a highly advanced PCB assembly factory.
  • NeST has also executed complex projects, which integrate ZigBee with other communication technologies and applications. These projects call for profile translations and protocol conversions which require good understanding of all involved standards.

Power Line Communications

  • NeST has good Knowledge of power line communication standards (HPCC). Which puts NeST in good position to design and develop various applications based power line communication technology.
  • NeST has been a development partner to one of the leading solution vendor in this domain, which provides us with the rich experience of design and implementation of some of the complex systems based on this technology.
TCP/IP, Ethernet

  • NeST has in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP standard and various TCP/IP implementations.
  • NeST has experience of development of Ethernet drivers of various chips and Operating Systems.
  • NeST has executed projects which inter-works Ethernet with many other communication technologies and applications. These projects call for protocol conversions which require understanding of all involved standards.
